Canadians at least have an answer now to their perennial anguished question, "What does it take to put Canada on the front page of the New York Times?"

We Didn't Start the Fire

America hasn't been this divided since the cola wars, and smoke from Canada has made New York's state of mind as bad as Allentown's. Is it time to send uptown girl Kam to the other border?

We wanted to understand what is causing the intense wildfires in Canada. So we talked to three unvaccinated truckers at a Tim Horton's near Ottawa.

We’re seeing more and more of these fires because of climate change. These fires are affecting everyday routines, lives and livelihoods, and our air quality. We’ll keep working – here at home and with partners around the world – to tackle climate change and address its impacts.

Apologies for the smoke, everyone. (I don’t personally have any control over it but as a Canadian it’s my duty to apologize in a Canadian accent).

The real conspiracy behind the fires: oil executives and the press & politicians they own have conspired for decades to hide the simple truth that burning fossil fuels would change the Earth's climate and sabotaged every effort to prevent it. https://t.co/2fcioU3sKU via @Yahoo

Turnabout is fair play - the Yanks gassed us with toxic smoke from that train derailment in Ohio. That said, my windows are closed here in TO. No sense in getting gassed twice!

It is unfortunate there are such huge wildfires that the smoke travels so far and endangers people's health.
It is however fitting, that if the smoke had to go somewhere that New York is the place. It's where a number of headquarters are for multinational polluters, the NY Stock exchange, U.N., all organizations who could be doingmore to deal with climate change but don't want to because it might inpact their wealth and power.
Well now they know first hand what climate change really looks like. They maybe able to sit in their homes and offices with air purification equipment, but their kids will want to go out side and play. If you can't go outside and ski, boat, golf, etc. what is the point of having the money? Well of course power, but the rest of the families may not see it that way. It will be interesting to see if law suits start, just like tacbacco and drugs.
