And the Conservative ones always seem to figure out some way to embarrass themselves -- usually, its something to do with their cowboy hats.
The only time The Beaverton ever ranked Stephen Harper as Number One was when they did an article in 2023 ranking Canadian politicians for looking stupid in cowboy hats:
The dumbest of them all. We uploaded a vertical photo so you could take in the entirety of Stephen’s leather daddy look. If the country ever needed any proof that Harper, despite being an Alberta MP, was actually a nerd from the Toronto suburbs, this photo gave it to them.

Poly-nationalist @PierrePoilievre makes sure to show off his American made (woman's) cowboy hat for his rural drag performance this weekend. At least he didn't put it on backwards again. #CalgaryStampede #CalgaryStampede2025 #abpoli #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/FpHUyKJt7K

The Liberals, on the other hand, usually manage to look good, or at least not awful -- Trudeau usually looked great because he was used to wearing jeans:
PM Carney opening the Calgary Stampede. Hard to recognize him without a tie, but he's looking perfectly casual. He's on stage singing O Canada in front of 10,000 people.🍁 I love the photo where he is paying respect for the Canadian anthem by putting his hat on his chest.🍁

I love that saying, 'all cattle...'
My kids are in the riding next to where PP ran. On the other side was PM Carney. We are all glad he's done.
Yes - I expect PP will win in Alberta, but maybe not with as high a vote percentage, which would be funny too. But what I can't understand is why anyone in the CPC would still want him as their leader anyway.
why? as Mom used to say, "there is no accounting for taste". There are all sorts of reasons why people vote for who they do, frequently for people who do not have the be.st interests of the voter in mind. will it change? doubt it. Having watched B.C. politics since the 1950s couldn't figure it out. After Harper was elected a second time I asked a group of young people why some of their friends had voted for him. The said their friends had said it was because we had a high Canadian dollar and credited Harper with that. I then asked, how many of those high Canadian dollars were in their wallets. at that time most young people were struggling. I had seen this type of thing since I was a kid. Oh, well you can not save those who will not be saved.
Yes, we have internalized "trickle down" economics, haven't we, because the media have convinced us that what's good for business is good for everyone and a riding tide lifts all boats and all that.
