Today's News: Canadian hostages in ICE custody; ICE plays soldier in LA; plus Canada's right to clean water and What's Opera, Doc?

Apparently there are about 55 Canadians in ICE-Gestapo jails. 

Here's one of them:

Reports that a Canadian citizen who has resided in the US since age 10 was abducted at a green card interview. Her husband is begging ICE to let him fly her back to Canada and they refuse to release her.

I was searching for some stories about the other Canadians who are in custody and this is the only one that I found, from three days ago:

Relatives of Canadians detained by ICE in the United States say they're furious and frustrated by the treatment of their loved ones and the battles they're having to fight for even the most basic information.
Global Affairs Canada said it's aware of roughly 55 Canadians in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, though it said that the numbers can fluctuate.
Cynthia Olivera — born in Mississauga, Ont., but living in Los Angeles — was arrested last month when she and her husband went to an immigration office to complete an interview for her U.S. citizenship application. Paula Callejas of Montreal was in the process of finalizing a work visa when she was arrested for a misdemeanor — and then transferred to an ICE facility.
Olivera and Callejas's families told CBC News the weeks since their arrests have been a nightmare, filled with phone calls to lawyers and ICE bureaucracy.
When reached for comment, ICE confirmed that both Callejas and Olivera are in custody but offered few details.
Callejas's family said she has been transferred multiple times and last they heard she was in Arizona. But ICE told CBC News that it "seems" she is in El Paso.
"We feel completely stressed out because we have no idea if one day she's going to be there or somewhere else," Callejas's relative said. Callejas's family is also now on the hook for her legal fees in both her criminal and immigration cases. They said they want her returned to Canada so she can deal with her misdemeanor charge....

Canada needs to find out who all of these people are, and tell us who they are. We need their names and their photos because the only thing that works with the Trump administration is publicity, wall to wall, creating noise and uproar. Jasmine Mooney and Kilmar Abrego Garcia prove that.

And I don't think ICE knows what it is doing anymore, particularly when we start seeing crazy stories like this one - someone left the cake out in the rain!

NEW: Federal agents rolling into MacArthur Park in LA like they are trying to take Kabul. Absolute madness. As the reporter says here, it’s an unmarked, heavily armored vehicle with armed ‘soldiers’. No-one knows if it’s ICE or National Guard.

I guess the supposed MS13s and gangsters selling IDs must have left before the ICE gestapo arrived, because nobody saw them there - instead there were just some children playing, who fled in terror. It didn't take long for Angelinos to arrive to protest, and for Mayor Bass to get there too.

Today’s homeland security operation at the 35-acre MacArthur Park in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles was a mere “show of presence,” internal Army documents I’ve obtained say....
The news media is describing the operation as an ominous crackdown, but National Guard sources tell me that it was a botched laughingstock. The military aspect of the operation, codenamed Operation Excalibur, has not been previously reported....
Because ICE and CBP apparently failed to communicate or coordinate effectively, the military showed up too late (and Los Angeles authorities weren’t notified until two hours prior.)
“We were on the objective for 24 minutes,” a National Guard member told me. “Many of the phase lines were not reported because they didn’t happen. So we parked and then left. Soldiers didn’t get out of trucks. [They] stayed in the back of the 5-tons [military trucks] sweating in the heat.”
This is just the latest operation that didn’t go off as planned, amplifying the sense amongst the California Guardsmen that the whole spectacle is idiotic and shameful. Part of the reason for the confusion is the sheer number of government agencies involved. In this operation, according to the documents, nine different federal agencies (including the IRS) were given radio code names based on soda brands (Pepsi, Coke, 7-UP, etc.)

...No word yet on the role of the junior varsity sodas — the Los Angeles Police Department or Pepsi and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department or R/C (Royal Crown) — in this chaotic operation ...
Many of the soldiers involved, I’m told, view their mission as unnecessary and even ridiculous, with the Trump administration ordering the spectacle and the Pentagon leadership and chain of command smartly saluting....
While military leadership is embracing the Washington-inspired mission, sources say, the rank-and-file see the California operation as more akin to Afghanistan: doomed to failure and ultimately withdrawal.
