Today's News: More talk about Poilievre - "he was inevitable and invincible but now he's neither" Plus Sandwich Guy is acquitted

I'll bet Poilievre cannot believe how quickly he has fallen and he can't get up.

The CBC At Issue panel describes Poilievre's leadership as "toxic" and his supporters as ideological and punitive. I guess the beatings will continue even though morale isn't going to improve.

In The Globe and Mail, columnist Campbell Clark notes:
... it is hard to posture like you’re owning the Libs if they keep smuggling away your MPs. Worse: If the Liberals recruit two more and gain a parliamentary majority, Mr. Poilievre will go from someone who might be prime minister next year to someone destined to warm the opposition benches till 2029. That’s not what supporters who chose him as leader in 2022 signed up for.
More comments about today's events:

🔴 Dearest Canadians, I told you the other day that the worst kept secret in Canadian politics currently, is that MANY Conservative MPs have HAD IT with Pierre Poilievre's poor, toxic leadership! 🚮 That guy has NOTHING to offer except trolling, obstruction and disinformation ... he is unelectable. And now, the SECOND Conservative MP in the last 48 hours has resigned, a short while ago. 😌 I mentioned after the first resignation that the floodgates had opened. 🤷🏻‍♂️😆😆 Conservative MP, Matt Jeneroux has decided to preserve what integrity he has left and determined that he has cannot SERVE a single day longer under the clownish leadership of Poilievre, and he did the right thing, by resigning. ✅ #LeadershipMatters

And Poilievre is often clumsy, too:

Canadians barely knew Carney before they voted for him. Now, we're starting to understand him a little better:

And here's a bit of good news from the US -- Washington DC's sandwich guy who threw a submarine sandwich at an ICE gestapo agent, was acquitted today - the puns were fast and furious:

The sandwich guy has been acquitted. When the jury did not return a quick verdict, it looked like he might be toast. Turns out they needed to chew on it some more. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...

Okay, so I did it. In honor of Sandwich Guy, on what should be the last day of his trial, I figured out the chords. And so, with apologies to the late and great Bob Marley, I banged out this quick and (very) rough rendition of "I Threw the Sandwich." 🤣

They're just figuring this out now?

Watched Parliament years ago during Harper govt. Always thought Pollievre and Dean Del Maestro were extremely toxic. When searching Dean Del Maestro and leg irons one might get a laugh.

Hi Neil. They've known for a long time but remained silent thinking that the Conservatives were going to form the next government and it's human nature not to enrage the beast. My daughter worked at a federal agriculture research station during the Harper years where government scientists were muzzled. She left the government when a private R&D company recruited her and now lives in Trump's America but still believes she did the right career move.

I agree with dogsplaining that Kenney is lurking around the corner waiting to be the next Con leader which is why I starting following David Climenhaga's Alberta Politics blog when JK became premier of that province. Also a dark horse is one Ben Mulroney who Global is platforming the way Trump was platformed with The Apprentice. Ben, like his father is an opportunist. The seed doesn't fall far from the tree. BTW the response to Neil is from me, I forgot to leave my handle.
