Today's News: The Northern Lights are shining bright above Greenland tonight!

So this hit the news on Sunday night:

Americans - the whole western world, really - just couldn't believe it. And what does Norway have to do with Greenland anyway?
But of course Trump actually did say all this.
Here is Norway's response:

Norwegian PM Støre says Trump repeatedly raises—complains about, pleads for, and demands—the Nobel Peace Prize every time they meet. Støre gives same answer each time: decision is made independently by Norwegian Nobel Committee, with no role for Norwegian gov—a concept Trump appears unable to grasp.

Oh, and there IS actually a written document:

...and here's the document signed by Secretary of State Robert Lansing.

And here are the sane-washing "headlines" tonight from the New York Times and the Washington Post.
Nothing to see here folks, move along move along....

NYT wrote 300+ land page articles in the first half of 2024 demanding that Biden step back as he was too old to lead the US. But in 2026 they write very carefully worded articles normalizing & validating Trump's threats of economic & military war with Europe as a totally normal negotiation.

And CNN is no better:

edition.cnn.com/2026/01/19/p... Can we stop sanewashing this crazy old man and put him in a dementia unit already?!?!?

Only the cartoonists actually understand what we're seeing now:

Brittlestar hits the nail on the head:

I’m old enough to remember when a headline like this would be unimaginable

Basically, here's the standard chain of events with Trump now:

1️⃣ He didn't say that. 2️⃣ He said it, but you misunderstood him. 3️⃣ He said what you understood, but he was just trolling. 4️⃣ He was serious but he's just negotiating, not going to do it. 5️⃣ He's going to do it for grand strategy reasons I've invented. 6️⃣ Look what you liberals made him do.

Sounds like Canada is next on the Trump hit parade:

Canadian exports globally increased a dramatic 14% while we inflicted billions of dollars of damage on the MAGA economy. So needless to day, Trump is coming for us. But we are helluva lot tougher now than we were last year at this time.

I saw Doug Ford on the news today complaining about Carney's EV deal with China, and apparently miffed because Carney didn't personally call him about it.
Well, for one thing, what would Doug have said anyway? And I think Carney knows that any industry based on American companies isn't going to survive in Canada anymore now, so we need to get other companies in here, including Chinese automakers. Ontario has thousands of experienced auto workers who can build excellent cars for any company, it doesn't need to be an American one. And it mostly won't be anymore.

Finally, this:

Late edit:
Trump apparently just posted this - its based on an old photo of Trump with European leaders:
