2025 roundup: a dumpster fire of a year, really

I'm starting to see some of the "2025 in review" posts here and there, so I thought I would begin a round-up of the most interesting ones. If I find more, then I'll do another batch tomorrow.

First, some short posts:

The 2025 Year in Review: It sucked.

Announcing that I am "Radical Left Scum" too

Not a lengthy post tonight, but I just have to join the thousands online who are announcing themselves as "Radical Left Scum" following Trump's crazy Christmas Eve rant:

Do I need a separate membership card to be Radical Left Scum, or will my ANTIFA card suffice?

Christmas Funday: Some good cartoons, funny posts, and videos. And a little politics, of course

Just some good stuff to enjoy on Christmas day.

This is wonderful:

This....would be memorable:

they don’t tell you when you buy a christmas tree at the christmas tree farm that you could take it home, decorate it, and then be relaxing in your living room seven nights later when A BAT suddenly flies out and starts CRASHING AROUND YOUR HOUSE

Festivus for the rest of us, plus the CBC Carney interview, and a few funny posts

Happy Festivus!

First, there was actually a Festivus miracle today:

BREAKING: Huge loss for Trump administration at Supreme Court, which rules that the Trump administration had lacked authority to federalize and deploy the National Guard to execute laws in Illinois. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

— Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney.bsky.social) December 23, 2025 at 2:17 PM

And another miracle:

Kudos to everyone who called them “Kavanaugh stops.” The name stung. So now he’s saying: “DON’T CALL THEM KAVANAUGH STOPS! Ignore what I said before. Of course DHS needs reasonable suspicion and can’t racial profile. Why would anyone think otherwise?”

Today's News: Its the incompetence, stupid! #EpsteinFiles #BariWeiss

If there is one thing that might save the United States from sinking into fascism and tyranny, it will be the utter incompetence of the entire Trump administration and all its sycophants.
Two cases just today show the Trumpsters stepping on rakes.

The US Justice Department fucks up the Epstein file release
So you all know about the thousands of pages of Epstein file material that the US justice department released on Friday?
Well, so then this happens:
First, on Saturday they took 16 pages back, then they released some again:

DOJ Restores Image of Trump to Epstein Files Website After Backlash The Justice Dept said it pulled 15 files from its released Epstein documents to assess whether further redactions to protect victims. Read in TIME: apple.news/A65X_70-1Sae... ๐Ÿ”ฅnobody believes you are trying to protect the victims๐Ÿ”ฅ

— enuffsaysv.bsky.social (@enuffsaysv.bsky.social) December 22, 2025 at 10:49 PM
Next, you all know that Epstein file pages have been set up so that if you search for "Trump", nothing comes up.
Turns out there was an easy way around that:

HAH: If you search "Trump" on the Files you get zero results. But if you search "Trump " with a space after, you get 600+ results. So, they blocked "Trump" searches, but they're so stupid they didn't block the workaround. Have fun, and enjoy. Pass. It. On. ๐Ÿ˜Ž✨

— California Dreamin’… ๐Ÿ˜Ž (@jerasikehorn.bsky.social) December 22, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Next, you know all those hundreds of pages of redactions in the Epstein documents?
Turns out there's an easy way around that too.

A Festival of TrumpWatch

TrumpWatch is what I call the world's most desired event. And usually I include a TrumpWatch section in my weekly Sunday Funday posts.
But this week, I've seen a positive plethora of TrumpWatch - maybe its the coming war with Venezuela, or that crazy Rant To The Nation that interrupted everyone's TV viewing, or the release of heavily-redacted Epstein files, but people have gone absolutely overboard with so many TrumpWatch posts recently that I just can't resist sharing them all.

Today's News: The photos are the bonfire of the Vanity Fair articles. Plus short takes on Trump, Skate Canada, Poilievre, and hockey refs

Yesterday everyone was talking about the blockbuster Vanity Fair article - Part One and Part Two - mainly on Trump's Chief of Staff Susan Wiles.
And here are gift links to Peter Baker's New York Times articles about the VF pieces - here and here.
The Trumpsters are outraged - OUTRAGED - to be quoted accurately in the article. How dare they?
You know, the same type of thing happened all the time during Trump 45, where some flunky blabbed all over the place then Trump gets mad and the flunky blames the reporter for reporting exactly and accurately what they said:

"We had no idea the conversations we were having were going to be used for a Vanity Fair article!"
"Hey everyone please come to the conference room we have a Vanity Fair photoshoot at 2pm."

Is Trump going to declare war on Venezuela?

I used to think that the Iraq War was the stupidest war in history.
I was wrong.
It will be the Venezuela War that Trump is going to declare on Wednesday.

Today's News: Poilievre loses the media and Trump loses his mind

Poilievre did a couple of big media interviews this weekend, displaying the incisive rhetoric, perceptive analysis and nuanced review of his own performance as leader that we've all come to expect:

Today's News: "tired of the petty little games"

In my post yesterday I noted that Conservative MP Michael Ma had crossed the floor to join the Carney Liberals - another Festivus miracle!
Today I saw some more good comments about it, including some chuckles about the timing.
Because first, Ma was at the Conservative Christmas party on Wednesday night:

This is a photo from the @thestar.com from the CPC Christmas Party last night. Ma is smiling with Poilievre.

And then he literally crossed the floor to the Liberal party:

I'm afraid that Michael Ma doing this to his former Conservative colleagues right before crossing the floor is absolutely iconic. 10/10, no notes:

Things that make me cheer out loud - Canada grows, and Trump declines

So after yesterday's gloomy post, I found some good stuff to share tonight:

First, Carney keeps growing that Liberal caucus!
