Today's News: Its the incompetence, stupid! #EpsteinFiles #BariWeiss

If there is one thing that might save the United States from sinking into fascism and tyranny, it will be the utter incompetence of the entire Trump administration and all its sycophants.
Two cases just today show the Trumpsters stepping on rakes.

The US Justice Department fucks up the Epstein file release
So you all know about the thousands of pages of Epstein file material that the US justice department released on Friday?
Well, so then this happens:
First, on Saturday they took 16 pages back, then they released some again:

DOJ Restores Image of Trump to Epstein Files Website After Backlash The Justice Dept said it pulled 15 files from its released Epstein documents to assess whether further redactions to protect victims. Read in TIME: apple.news/A65X_70-1Sae... 🔥nobody believes you are trying to protect the victims🔥

Next, you all know that Epstein file pages have been set up so that if you search for "Trump", nothing comes up.
Turns out there was an easy way around that:

HAH: If you search "Trump" on the Files you get zero results. But if you search "Trump " with a space after, you get 600+ results. So, they blocked "Trump" searches, but they're so stupid they didn't block the workaround. Have fun, and enjoy. Pass. It. On. 😎✨

Next, you know all those hundreds of pages of redactions in the Epstein documents?
Turns out there's an easy way around that too.
On some of the pages, the redactions weren't done correctly - so now, if you block and copy the blacked-out text and past it into a new document, voila! The black disappears and the original text is there.
Apparently you have to be really sloppy and inefficient at your job to screw up redactions this way, but internet sleuths know that incompetent people make these types of mistakes, so they always check.

It seems that at least some the Epstein redactions were done with another layer in the PDF. A layer that you can just remove. And then it's not redacted anymore...

They did such a sloppy job with the redactions.

Ok. Now had a chance to check and, well, at least some docs do appear to be straight up classic redaction fail. And there are some *interesting* bits here. www.justice.gov/multimedia/C...

Lots more analysis and reveals at the Krassenstein substack here: BREAKING: We Just Unredacted the Epstein Files

CBS and Bari Weiss fucked up when they tried to spike a 60 Minutes expose on CECOT prison
So you all know that on Sunday CBS News announced two hours before airtime that they were pulling a heavily-promoted piece on what had happened to the hundreds of innocent undocumented immigrants who had been illegally sent to the CECOT prison in El Salvador by Homeland Security this fall.
Turns out they forgot that Global News had already been sent the piece, and so it was duly posted on the Global News app Sunday too.
Oops!
And of course the criticisms that CBS News Director Bari Weiss had made about how the piece hadn't been reported well enough were disproven as soon as people actually saw it.
Now CBS lawyers are trying to get YouTube and other platforms to pull it down, but its everything everywhere all at once now.

Bari’s complaint was “there’s nothing new here” and while that’s untrue it’s also irrelevant “we intentionally sent people to be tortured in a hellhole and bragged about it and The Hague is too good for everyone involved” is a story that simply cannot be told enough

If Timothy Burke's copies disappear, here is the link to an archived version of the whole piece .

watching the CECOT 60 Minutes segment that CBS suppressed, it’s striking that Weiss specifically called out as unnecessary some of the most rigorous investigative work in the segment, including an explanation of how it was done (by human rights researchers)

Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.

All of these bootlegged copies of the 60 Minutes segment flooding my feed (saying, ‘Watch it quick! Before it disappears!’) makes me feel like I’m in the Soviet Union and just got some black market foreign newspaper I need to hide under a floorboard in my house. This is where America is now

Cool how we are smuggling domestic news in over the border from canada and people having to share it on bulletproof hosting providers to stop the government and media owners taking it down

— Pwnallthethings (@pwnallthethings.bsky.social) December 22, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Both Bari Weiss, and CBS News, should be ashamed of themselves.
But even if they are - unlikely, I know - the damage has been done. CBS isn't going to be trusted again.

So Bari Weiss’s first real editorial intervention at CBS is to repress coverage of American concentration camps.

60 Minutes, dead at 57. The murder weapon was Bari Weiss.

Worth noting, I guess, that inside of a year we've gone from administration officials taking selfies of themselves at CECOT and bragging about how it's hell on earth to now getting their horrible little media worms to kill stories about it

— Ian Boudreau (@ianboudreau.com) December 21, 2025 at 8:55 PM

Had Bari Weiss just ran the story, it would have been seen by a couple million people tops. The bootleg has now gone viral, and may end up being the most-watched 60 Minutes segment ever. It might be time to rename the Streisand Effect.

All in all, it was a hell of a Monday, wasn't it.

Between the 60 Minutes Canada debacle and the fake Epstein redactions my schadenfreude tank is fully topped off today.

On a side note, this Canadian connection is sort of remarkable too

I feel the same way as I did in 1979 when the Cdn Embassy in Iran hid the US diplomats & got them home: I had nothing to do with it personally, but I'm damn proud of my country all the same!

I kind of like this whole “We won’t buy your liquor but we will air your state-suppressed news stories” niche that Canada’s apparently carved out.
