Sunday Funday: Lots of TrumpWatch, plus Newsom's Canada plane, other funny stuff and Animal Crackers

Time for my Sunday column and I've been looking forward to sharing all the TrumpWatch posts this week. 

"TrumpWatch" is what I call posts about the world's most anticipated event, and this week we reached a fever pitch.

Usually Trump never shuts up but he just about disappeared from Wednesday to Saturday - very unusual for him - and even the Saturday sighting was at a distance, without media chit-chat. 

The internet finally saw some Trump posts on Truth Social on Saturday, but they didn't sound Trumpy - no spelling errors, for one thing. 

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, fingers crossed!

Their explanations are absurd and it's time to start asking questions.
...Something clearly is up with the 79-year-old president, and the official explanations don’t make sense. That’s not surprising given that Trump is a world historical liar surrounded by toadies who surrendered their shame long ago. But it’s past time for reporters to ask some questions.
The mainstream press is still in self-flagellation mode over how they purportedly “ignored” former President Joe Biden’s decline. (In reality, they never stopped talking about.) But this soul-searching is apparently only backward looking and exclusive to Democratic presidents.
...it’s shocking that since July, no major news outlets have done serious investigations about Trump’s health and what the White House is trying to cover up about it.
Trump received a coronary calcium CT scan as part of a routine physical exam in 2018. His previous White House physician, Ronny Jackson — who also demonstrated an absurd willingness to lie about Trump’s health — revealed that Trump’s coronary calcium score was 133 (anything over 100 indicates heart disease in the patient).
And yet the media seems to have accepted Leavitt’s “frequent handshaking” diagnosis. Photos from last Saturday showed Trump with bruising on his left hand too. Are we to believe that he’s double-fisting his handshakes now?...

And in his comment, mr perfect makes these good points about this issue: 

As Trump weakens from poor health and slips further into dementia there will be those in the GOP who will lose their fear of him and MAGA, especially those congress critters facing losses in November of 2026. The knives will come out under a fading Trump. The 25th amendment could be used and JD Vance would become president and while he wouldn't be an improvement, there is no way MAGA will support a man whose controller is a German born, South Africa raised gay person with a crash landing site in New Zealand in case things go sideways. When Trump dies the MAGA cult will be broken. Blue governed states are also starting to push back against Trump, led by Newsome and Pritzker. There is some hope, we have to find ways to survive the upcoming 16 months. 

There is truth here, too:

many professional political observers are closet or open trump supporters - when he fails or stumbles, as he frequently does, they cover for him and insert a fake, fictional trump into their stories that's doing smart stuff for normal reasons.
