Time for another episode of Comedians V Trump

There are enough funny takes now on Trump's daily idiocies that I think I can make this "Comedians V Trump" a regular feature - not only clips from comedians themselves, but also the funny things that everyone does and says to roast Trump.

First, when I saw this video of a confrontation with an ICE agent in Portland, I just about couldn't believe it. I am amazed that anyone would have the courage to do this. But it worked:

This regime can’t stand to be laughed at. They can’t stand to be the butt of a joke because the moment we’re able to laugh at them, their fragile ego begins to crumble. @nowthisimpact.bsky.social

This is hilarious:

Clips from Colbert and Kimmel together

Plus an assemblage of clips from Kimmel and Jim Carrey:

All of the Colbert interview with Kimmel is here and here and here.

Next, Stephen Colbert on the shutdown

Late Night with Seth Meyers: "Republicans talk about Trump the way a dog-owner talks about their Chihuahua"

This Hour has 22 minutes: King Charles on Trump

And on a side note, while I have lost some respect for the comedians who accepted the big bucks to play in Saudi Arabia, I can also support this view:

Yeah, I don't see where comedians who routinely perform in the US get the moral authority to criticize others who perform in Saudi Arabia. Both countries are governed by authoritarian regimes that abuse human rights. The US has the additional distinction of using its Security Council veto to exempt itself and its allies from accountability for conducting wars of aggression and genocide. Pot, meet kettle.

It's 'funny' ... but I don't find this stuff funny anymore. It doesn't even qualify as gallows humour imho.

And I think the Rick Mercer's and Stephen Colberts of the world contributed to the 'both side-ism' that (especially) younger folks (who don't bother voting) are prone to.

And the PP fanatics and FOX viewers don't watch it.

Reply to yesterday's comment.

"Years ago, I read something that David Suzuki said -- whatever happens, the Earth will survive and so will many plants and animals But it is people who will not, because we can only live within a relatively narrow band of climate and weather.
So now I often think of what he said, as the Earth's climate is changing toward becoming unliveable for us."

The late James Lovelock is on a par with Suzuki.
His Gaia Theory of climate change: Long periods of stability (such as the recent era when humans evolved) then when change cannot be resisted, the climate has rapid shifts, like right now, to warmer or colder periods-of-long-duration.

In the past, those 'rapid shifts' have taken milleniums to happen. However, the forces causing the shift (ie additional carbon for example) also took miileniums to happen. We've created the same conditions (from 280 to 420 ppm carbon) in just 150 years!

btw, The beautifully and misleadingly named theory, Gaia, is a system not a conciousness and is no longer ridiculed by other scientists. Is Gaia removing the irritant from it's system?

True; we are all fucked.
Question is how much will the last man, or woman, standing be worth?
