Today's News: White House down; Carney up; and yes, it was another bummer

White House down
I'm seeing some good cartoons and posts about Trump's awful East Wing destruction:

Here is what the White House east wing used to look like:

And here is what it looks like now: Here is some interesting speculation from an architect:

And from someone who recognizes a Death Star when he sees one:

I have a very bad feeling about this...

Carney Up!

Now's your time to strike, Mark Carney. You'll be greeted as liberators

Some words of wisdom from Carney as he negotiates trade agreements in the Far East:

Canada didn’t hold back. At the Asia summit, PM Carney publicly dismantled Trump’s bluster making him look like a fool on the world stage. As Ben Meiselas put it: Canada just struck back hard. 🇨🇦 #Carney#AsiaSummit #USDemocracy #Pinks youtube.com/watch?v=x8K1...

I don’t really think the framers intended for a president to have the power to slap a tariff on products from a particular country because he didn’t like a TV commercial they ran about him, but I suppose it is presently up to the Supreme Ct to decide how far the Mad King can go.

And I agree with this idea:

Mark Carney should trigger him by offering expedited citizenship to any American who wants to leave Trump’s shithole.

Here's a good commentary too:

Just for fun, here's The Late Show from Monday night with a song about Trump's tariffs

About that World Series game Monday night....
Yes, Canada is pretty bummed out about an 18-inning loss.
But I saw some good posts about it, too:

That was exhausting and disappointing but definitely proves that the Dodgers are not as dominant as people perceive them to be. Both teams are a match and our Blue Jays can still win it. Brush off the bad juju and let’s cheer them on for Game 4! Go Jays!

That’s a head held high loss. Those Blue Jays battled through injury, exhausted every option. Good job lads. Be proud of it. Push em around tomorrow.

Over 600 pitches later, the longest World Series game in history ends, and all of North America finally goes to bed.

This game is bringing out the best in us I haven’t had this much fun on Bluesky since we all thought he was dead

The Jays and Dodgers will break for Christmas Eve to share a drink in no man’s land, show each other photos of the family they left back home, before heading back to their respective trenches.

it's cool to see that this game's starting pitcher is still hanging in there

On a lighter note, this is a good one, too:

And on a side note, whooda thunk it?

Mar Awa III, patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, also born in Chicago, gave Pope Leo a Cubs jersey.
