Wrapping-up the Royal Visit
The Manchester Evening News put this together. I think Britain was even more amazed at Charles' wit and impact, than the Americans were.

After they left Washington, Charles and Camilla stopped at Shenandoah National Park.

This week's good and funny posts
Its finally spring on the prairies. Watch the ice break on the Athabasca River

One of the challenges faced by Saskatoon in the early 20th century was to build bridges strong enough to withstand the annual ice break-up on the South Saskatchewan River, which runs through the centre of the city.

Here is an amazing story:

Canadian Joan Bamford Fletcher was a badass. In 1945, she led 2,000 Dutch civilians from an internment camp, 450 km through the jungle, to the coast. She dealt with injury, rebel groups and terrible weather but didn't lose a single person. This is her story Joan Bamford Fletcher was born on July 12, 1909 in Regina. When the Second World War began in 1939, she trained as a driver & mechanic with the Red Cross. She was sent to England where she served with the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. In 1945, she was transferred to Indonesia to evacuate Allied captives from the camp at Bangkinang. Japan had surrendered and rebel groups were everywhere. She was able to persuade the Japanese Army to provide her with an interpreter, 15 trucks and 40 armed soldiers. The journey from Bankinang to the coastal city of Padang was 450 kilometres through jungle and mountains. Only a small number of internees could be transferred at one time and each trip took 20 hours. Fletcher monitored each convoy and dealt with problems. On the third convoy, she suffered a four-inch gash on her head when she was accidently dragged by a truck. She was back at work two hours later, which gained her the respect of the Japanese soldiers. After that, they saluted her each time she passed. On the second-last convoy, two Dutch passengers were kidnapped by rebels, while another rebel tried to steal a truck from the convoy. Fletcher threw the rebel out of the vehicle and he ran off. She then found the missing Dutch civilians at a nearby rebel camp. Fletcher simply stormed in, shouted at the rebels, grabbed a knife, cut the captives free and ushered them out the door. The rebels didn't follow her, or hassle the convoy again. By the end of six weeks, Fletcher had transported all 2,000 internees in 21 trips. At the end of the evacuation, a Japanese captain gave Fletcher a family heirloom, a 300-year-old Samurai sword out of respect for her work. She received the Member of the Order of the British Empire. She was then posted to Poland after the war. She fled the country as secret police were looking for her and returned to Canada. She kept in touch with her Japanese interpreter, Art Miyazawa, for the rest of her life. Our Tech-Bro Overlords deserve this, don't they

The artist Mark Winklemann, aka “Beeple,” has a new art installation in Berlin depicting tech billionaires on robot dogs with hyper-realistic silicone faces. They poop images taken with their visual sensory mechanism. I am both laughing and dreading the nightmares I will have from this.

This is Ellbie. She somehow snuck out her apartment's 13th-floor balcony and walked the ledge to the other side of the building. After two days of searching, a neighbor found her with his drone. She has withdrawn her application to be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Dog. 13/10
