Orange Shirt Day is tomorrow. It was founded in 2013 by Phyllis Jack Webstad. In 1973 she had a new item of clothing, an orange shirt, taken from her on her first day at a residential school. She was 6 years old. #OrangeShirtDay #AbLeg pic.twitter.com/W8ZLqCgQXV

This reminds me of one of the funniest revelations about Canada's own famously thin-skinned prime minister Stephen Harper -- this happened during the Prorogue crisis in 2008.Between this and the Proud Boys being named after a song from Aladdin, musical theater is having a moment.

During the past week, while the nation wondered if the government would fall, junior Conservative staffers were ordered to be outside 24 Sussex Dr. by 6:15 in the morning. Their job was to stand there in the dark with the temperature well below zero and wait for the PM to appear. Their instructions were to applaud, wave and sing O Canada loudly as the motorcade pulled out of the gates and drove Stephen Harper to work.Mr. Harper, by all accounts, actually believed that the young people were there of their own accord and represented a groundswell of love and support for his actions. Staffers in the Prime Minister's Office know that he is easier to handle when being applauded and not questioned. This way, nobody has to suffer at the hands of the inconsolable bear.

Today's news: maybe the Jan 6 insurrection actually messed up the plan?
I have been saying for months that the FBI and the Justice Department should have been holding regular briefings to explain to the American people what happened on Jan 6.This new interview by Powell is interesting. It suggests that the purpose of the insurrection was to DELAY the electoral college certification to give Alito time to intervene on this legal challenge. But, Powell says they didn’t anticipate Pelosi reconvening Congress that day. pic.twitter.com/HnmpcOci3Q

....Powell's interview "suggests that the purpose of the insurrection was to DELAY the electoral college certification to give [Justice Samuel Alito] time to intervene on this legal challenge. But, Powell says they didn't anticipate Pelosi reconvening Congress that day."Powell said that while then-President Donald Trump was inciting a riot at the Capitol, her team was filing a "12th Amendment constitutional challenge to the process the Congress was about to use.""Justice Alito was our circuit justice for that," she recalled. "And we were suing the vice president to follow the 12th Amendment as opposed to the Electoral College Act."Powell alleged that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi learned of the lawsuit and rushed to have Congress certify the election despite the ongoing attack on the U.S. Capitol."Everything broke loose and she really had to speed up reconvening Congress to get the vote going before Justice Alito might have issued an injunction to stop it all, which is what should have happened," the attorney said
If you think the insurrection ended on January 6, you are not paying attention.

COVID news keeps getting worse every day - more than a thousand new cases in Saskatchewan just this weekend. This is absolutely nuts - the anti-vaxxers are terrified of COVID but they're now trying to demonize doctors and nurses, and they're putting together "protocols" to breathe hydrogen peroxide and gargle iodine. They just can't stand it that Trudeau won AGAIN! https://t.co/4Ad3dg2gzg

A quick thread:
— Ben Collins (@oneunderscore__) September 24, 2021
⁰It’s hard to explain just how radicalized ivermectin and antivax Facebook groups have become in the last few weeks.
They’re now telling people who get COVID to avoid the ICU and treat themselves, often by nebulizing hydrogen peroxide.
So, how did we get here?

My brother was at the Saskatoon Symphony performance this weekend, and there was one anti-vax cellist playing out front for spare change, because she refused to get vaccinated - so now she is losing her career and all her friends, just because of anti-vax ignorant stubbornness.Thank you to the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra @SSOyxe for your leadership and commitment to keep our community safe! 👏👏👏 https://t.co/V25J7ZZQGT

Today I transferred an unvax Covid + patient to another hospital where her unvax Covid + husband is being treated so they could die together in the same room. Then had to tell their child about both parents likely pending demise. 😢

We hold your hands with our gloved ones. We smile with tired eyes under our goggles. We absorb your pain with heavy hearts beneath our gowns. We are tired and broken, from suffering and death that did not have to be. This was predictable and preventable. #FirebreakAB #ThankYiu

He spoke w/ family one last time before going to ICU. He told them he was so sorry.
He died 3 days later, alone.#COVID19SK
I agree with this too:Please take this amazing remedy. Get vaccinated for those who love you. So that we do not have to break their hearts when we ask them,

Second, the Canadian catholic bishops are stepping up to take responsibility for residential school abuse -- unfortunately this story has been overshadowed tonight by the Michaels news, but a really significant story overall:And the next time the US tries to get Canada to arrest someone based on a stupid president's stupid whim, DON'T DO IT! https://t.co/rxk3tO0j36

Today's news: frustration and sadness in our hospitals
COVID here in Saskatchewan is horrible, and I am deeply angry -- first, at the thousands of unvaccinated-by-choice who are to blame for this mess, and second, at the politicians who pandered to them.Saskatchewan had 460 new cases of COVID-19 to report Thursday, along with 444 recoveries and seven deaths. There are 273 COVID patients in the province's hospitals, including 58 in ICUs.https://t.co/DYD2Too4Ws
— 650 CKOM (@CKOMNews) September 23, 2021
#yqr cardiologist Dr. Andrea Lavoie and #yxe neurologist Dr. Brett Graham said anyone with emergencies will still receive the same care as always and should not hesitate to call 911.
— Jason Warick (@WarickCBC) September 23, 2021
But hundreds, possibly thousands of others w non-critical needs will have to wait indefinitely.
Lavoie and Graham said health-care staff are working around the clock to provide the best care they can to all patients.
— Jason Warick (@WarickCBC) September 23, 2021
But Lavoie said there is frustration and sadness as well, because none of this had to happen.
"It's been really demoralizing for health-care workers, knowing we're about to see what we are, and there was a way to avoid it."
— Jason Warick (@WarickCBC) September 23, 2021
-#yqr #sask cardiologist Dr. Andrea Lavoie.
Our government walked us directly into this fire. Thank you @SaskParty for a great Saskatchewan Summer. You shameless, heartless cowardly ideologues.

Will anybody in this gutless party stand up and say “we were wrong?” https://t.co/eMDjeBHFjZ
Back to the election -- I think the final results in several of the seats that were too close to call on election night have been reported tonight, with the counting of mail-in ballots. But I haven't been able to find anything yet showing a summary of the final results -- the Liberals have picked up a couple of seats just tonight, I think, and the NDP seem to be up 2 in Alberta. I think the Liberals are totalling around 160 seats, but I'm not sure yet."Best summer ever" = "send in the troops Autumn" https://t.co/Zum5IA1s7C

I saw this Frank Graves tweet tonight:That is such a Conservative style explanation of why they lost. Too pathetic for words. Never once did JT launch a personal attack against O'Toole, but O'Toole got viciously personal against JT.
— Mike Morris (@1MikeMorris) September 23, 2021
If I was purely mercenary (and I am part mercenary) I could have crafted a truly winning strategy for the CPC . Fortunately, for all that is good and wise, they would never call , and I would never answer .
— Frank Graves (@VoiceOfFranky) September 24, 2021
"The NDP came close to a breakthrough, but we lost a ton of seats close" is an argument for Jagmeet needing to resign immediately, just FYI
— Evan Scrimshaw (@EScrimshaw) September 23, 2021
In other news, each year the US Fish and Wildlife Service has an art competition and last year the Trumpers decided that all of the bird artists had to include hunters and guns in their artwork.Racism in QC maybe a reason Jagmeet hasn’t caught on, but it doesn’t remotely explain why he’s been totally shut out of Toronto.

He’s a likeable guy with no policy chops.
Another funny one:"Several artists appear to be saying to the government: You want hunting scenes? We’ve got your hunting scenes right here."
