Because we don't get to choose the battle, we only get to choose our side. When people whose rights are under attack need us to stand up and be counted, then we all have to do that, just as Trudeau did.And with a disturbing rise in anti-transgender hate here in Canada and around the world recently, I want to be very clear about one more thing: Trans women are women. We will always stand up to this hate – whenever and wherever it occurs.

Well done, Saskatoon city council! They handled this very well, I would say, and made it perfectly clear that trans people are a valued segment of society. 👏🏼 https://t.co/mIaTIE72tN

Saskatoon's real freedom fighters showed up today and it was a beautiful thing to witness. #TransWomenAreWomen #TransRightsAreHumanRights https://t.co/CHUlTkkOdk

Trans rights are human rights.

Sharing my speech to Saskatoon city council, but nobody else's (although they were better) because it's not my place to sign them up for harassment and abuse. #TransWomenAreWomen pic.twitter.com/ADhZeX0tUZ
So far, more speakers in support of current policy than against. Mark Friesen leaves as Zipp Neufeld stands up to speak as a trans, non-binary child. “When trans adults thrive, trans kids survive,” Neufeld says to crowd. This is outstanding too:"As mayor I have no intention of going backwards or being a city that stands out by taking steps to become more discriminatory in terms of the policies we have." Via @DaynePatterson_ https://t.co/LDaJss2cuH

Gov Tim Walz has just made Minnesota a trans refugee state with an EO!
He will decline extradition requests.
He will refuse subpoenas.
No resource can be used to enforce bans.
They will be the first state to upgrade to dark blue, safest states in my map. https://t.co/SGxtOvkWSn pic.twitter.com/pqJX9vSp55
And this is why trans rights are important:On this International Women's Day I want to make it clear that trans women are women, they are welcome here, and any bill that harasses or threatens their safety will swiftly meet my veto stamp.

I am the proud mom of a trans kid, and it hurts me every single day to watch these attacks on trans youth who are simply trying to make it through life and be who they fully are.
— Pramila Jayapal (@PramilaJayapal) March 10, 2023
Now more than ever, we must do everything we can to protect trans youth.
Because if bigots get away with demonizing trans-gender people then this is what will happen next:The courage it took for Niko to go on national TV, out himself as trans and confront the Governor of Virginia about his illegal/unenforceable — and still draft — proposed bathroom policies contrasts with the Governor refusing to summon the courage to actually answer his question. https://t.co/jSEtT0gdPJ

Turns out, this whole anti-trans push started four years ago:This includes gay marriage, interracial marriage and interfaith marriage in case you thought it was all going to end with trans people. https://t.co/aCFE8fH5Ut

There is a petition underway now to ask Parliament to make Canada a country for trans people from around the world who will need refuge from discrimination in their countries - hope everyone can sign it:Daily Kos: a conservative plot to promote anti-trans laws in multiple jurisdictionshttps://t.co/IQbAoFzwKx

Hey everyone -- I just signed a federal petition from Mike Morrice, Green MP from Kitchener, which asks Parliament to offer asylum in Canada for transgender & non-binary people from USA, UK & any other hostile countryhttps://t.co/bwKH85a8rW

In the future, go publish this stuff on your own blog.
Nobody here is interested in reading it.
I'm in favor of deleting anti- trans biologically essentialist nonsense like the above comment. The writer should read a book published after 1930 to learn that biological sex has at least 7 categories in science
Your ignorance of biology beyond a grade school level is showing in this reductive penis/vagina nonsense. Grab a book to learn more- Dr. Fausto-Sterling's 'Sexing the body' is a great read. It's much more complex than your statements above.
I have decided to delete these anti-trans comments that I am getting today. While discussion on my blog is welcome, I am not interesting in providing a platform for hateful anti-trans comments. This is not a place where anti-trans people can make these kinds of statements.
Anyone who wants to dispute the rights of trans people can start their own blog to do so.
All DSDs (intersex conditions) are classed as either male or female. In any case, intersex has nothing to do with transgender.
It's disappointing that Cathie would delete those that question transsexual rights.
Sexuality has become a political weapon or should I say always has.
I have seen and heard from via CBC radio the actions of transsexuals.
I have a close friend whose daughter first came out as Lesbian and now considers herself male who is going through the process of becoming 'male' whilst still possessing the ovaries necessary for childbirth!!
As much as I can see transsexual males still desire females.
I back this up in that years ago when this subject first came to light a transsexual male( the first in my area) hot on my heterosexual daughter!!
Many years ago the CBC interviewed a transsexual male who still desired females!
The subject is difficult and i have sympathy for those unsure of their sexual identity.
That said we should tread carefully whilst making our 'sexual' decisions??
TB
Well, TB, I can agree with your conclusion that the subject is difficult. The goal is to support people if they are making a personal journey, not deny people the right to make decisions for themselves or act bigoted toward people whose decisions you don't understand.
The goal is to support people if they are making a personal journey,
Sorry that sounds a bit ambiguous.
There are many groups and individuals seeking help especially in the mentally handicapped come drug addicted group who are much more cruelly treated than those with gender issues .
When it comes to biological issues I am not even at the novice stage but it, transgender, is perhaps a genomic/mental health issue?
