Carney visits the lion's den - oops, sorry, it was just a paper tiger after all 🐯!

Today was Carney's day to visit Trump at the White House.
No tariff deal resulted, so then the DOW dropped 500 points.
But the 51st State talk is clearly dead now. And I must say, sometimes it was hard to tell who was the host and who was the guest.
Here are three cartoons that tell the story of this visit:
Before:
During:
After:

I think it's pretty clear now that the Trump tariffs will stay in place for a while, because Trump thinks he is an economic genius and the people around him are stupid as bricks. So no one will ever tell him that the tariffs will hurt Americans and if they did, Trump wouldn't believe it anyway.🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯
If you need an analysis of Carney's trip to the White House today, here's a good article:
Dean Blundell
VIDEO: Trump Bent The Knee to Canadian PM Mark Carney Today. Again.
Mark Carney played Trump like a fiddle in another embarrassing, rambling Oval Office performance
Well, it finally happened, and it was spectacular.
On May 6, 2025, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney walked into the Oval Office and what followed was less a meeting of world leaders and more a surreal geopolitical improv show — with Carney calmly defending Canadian sovereignty while Trump hosted a one-man rambling bullshit festival while Capiutlating fully to Canada’s new Prime Minister and the Country he’s been threatening with a “Forcible Takeover” for three months.
Trump was demure, incoherant, and deferential to Carney. The 51st state bluster was replaced with ass licking comments like “it takes two to tango” and “I love Canada.” The old “Canada has nothing and it’s not a real country” rhetoric was replaced with “I just want to be friends with Canada” because Trump and his regime are dying a slow death thanks to Canada.
Blundell then describes the meeting in detail, with video clips. He concludes:
Trump came in ready to dominate the narrative. Carney left having reset it entirely.
Canada reaffirmed its independence and strength
Trump conceded more than he likely intended
No deals were made — because Canada didn’t need one
Mark Carney showed up in Washington not as a junior partner, but as the leader of a sovereign nation charting its own course in a post-American world.
And in doing so, he put the final nail in Trump’s annexation fantasy I’m just sorry Mark had to sit through the rest of the bullshit.
And Canada’s tariffs against the US aren't going anywhere for four years.
Get Rid of Trump and then we’ll talk.
Canada chose the right man at the right time and Donald Trump didn’t know if he should shit or shine his shoes today.
“We The North” are in charge now. And Carney knows it.
So do we.
Here's one of the remarks Carney made at his press conference at the Canadian Embassy after the Oval Office meeting:

PM Carney is not only smart, but has a fantastic sense of humour.

Anyone who wanted any more from Carney in that situation is dreaming. He was tactful and reserved. He pushed Canadian sovereignty. He pet the ego just enough to keep negotiations going. What good would being kicked out of the oval office do? How does that help resolve this crisis? #cdnpoli

Off topic, but this is priceless:

Doug Ford: I need more money for my cars and my friends! Danielle Smith: I want my independence! Pierre Poilievre: It’s not fair though! I want a do-over! Mark Carney: If you don’t all stop right now I will turn this car around.

I visited a rightwingnutjob American site to see their take on Carney/Trump. They didn't run a single story. Obviously they were as embarrassed as Trump was.

Well, like Blundell, I heard tRump say "It takes two to Tango" and something similar in response to Carney's strong stance and carefully crafted verbal traps.

Sure tRump followed up with the very weak "never say never". It doesn't change the fact that he has now publicly acknowledged our sovereignty.
This was a huge win for Canada.

Thanks Mark.

(And thank god we didn't have to send Sulk-Slogan on this mission.)
