Today's News: The Epstein documents will trigger America's gag reflex

Does anyone remember now that it was the release of Nixon's phone tapes transcripts on August 5, 1973 - with all the "(expletive deleted)" stuff - that finally turned America against Nixon? 

He resigned three days later. 

Well, tonight America is reading some Epstein documents released by the House Oversight Committee including the "birthday book" that celebrated Epstein's 50th birthday in 2003.

And they are just as appalling as the Nixon tapes were.
Trump's contribution to Epstein's birthday book fits right in with the smarmy, sleazy, leering frat boy tone of the cards in the book, page after page of pictures and drawings of pretty young girls with ugly old men.

Trump can’t hide from this and the Epstein files.

Being a child sex predator was such a part of Epstein’s life and personality that everyone he had even a casual friendship with felt compelled to mention it in a birthday card. Like writing “heh steal any burgers lately?” in a birthday card to The Hamburglar.

I am also wondering whether the prominence of Epstein and his gang in Washington and New York for 20+ years gives us a possible explanation for why MAGA and GOP have been so obsessed with labelling all Democrats as pedophiles. 

The birthday book reveals that Epstein and Trump and their buddies were just so damned proud of themselves, and they apparently boasted about it all the time, in coded language. So the whispers and rumours and second-hand stories would fly around New York and Washington and Mar-a-Lardo year after year, with lots of people ultimately hearing about it. But then anyone who tried to check it out would be told "I know you are but what am I" and hey, its not us, not at all, its Bill Clinton and those awful Democrats!

It also makes what happened last week even more sinister, when Trump tried to disrupt the Epstein victims' press conference by sending military jets in a fly pass overhead - pretty dumb, really, because it just drew attention to what these women were saying:

It sure is revealing about their thought processes that they think people would want to protect *anyone* who was involved with Epstein. I support people who align with my values and anyone involved in that stuff is not aligned with me. It’s pretty darn simple.
