Sunday Funday: Some very odds and sods, including Poilievre, Elbows Up, & Derek Guy; plus TrumpWatch and Animal Crackers

Here are this week's odds and sods - and some are very odd indeed!

Poilievre is just a joke!
A collection of recent Poilievre cartoons:

Poilievre is fading into oblivion in the minds of Canadian voters and he's dragging down the CPC with him. How long will he hold on? #cdnpoli

Canadians have unappreciated power, too!

Google and Meta search both report that Cape Breton Island has its own time zone 12 minutes ahead of mainland Nova Scotia time because they are both drawing that information from a Beaverton article I wrote in 2024

This week's oddest tweet, I think:

I guess the spider is named Maman:

The Derek Guy story:

One of the remarkable stories of the last week was told on social media -- Derek Guy, who does lengthy posts on X about how suits should fit and how to make casual look good, is often called "the menswear guy" - revealed this week that his family was undocumented, as an act of solidarity with immigrants across the United States. His whole post is very lengthy. Here's a screen shot:

I've seen a bunch of references to this, but I hadn't seen the post itself until now. The menswear guy intentionally, riskily revealed that he's undocumented—that he's a DREAMer—as an act of public solidarity and witness in the face of our current fascist ascendancy.

In between posts about luxury watch brands, cobblers, how to wear a tie, and Brad Pitt's new suit, Guy continued with other posts about immigrants and their contributions to America, like this one: One of the people whose fashion "sense" Guy has criticized over the years is Vice President Vance. So of course some MAGA immediately alerted Vance about the Guy story:

Guy responded: What a remarkable and courageous person.

"I regret some of my posts...."
Remember when Musk bent the knee and tweeted an apology to Trump? Well, it inspired other feuds to declare truce too:

I have never hated a person more. Never have I thought "if he were bleeding out in front of me, I would eat my lunch." He is sentient puss. He's if gangrenous fluid could speak.

It will be nice to see the end of Pollievre. He is an embarrassment.

Charlie Angus is right, unfortunately my daughter moved to the USA for her career nine years ago and in order to see her, my son-in-law (who is American) and granddaughter (also American) we must travel to the USA. She's on a green card and shouldn't try to leave the country. So off we go but it'll be by airplane, no land border crossings or travel for us.
