Today's News: Cons step on a rake in Alberta; Updates on Jerome Powell, Trump's decline, Los Angeles, and ICE Gestapo, plus America #KneesUp

Just a few updates today --

How NOT to win Alberta hearts and minds

Talk about stepping on a rake! The Conservative campaign manager Jenni Byrne apparently hates Carney so much she posted this after the Edmonton Oilers lost yesterday -- why did she think this would somehow troll Carney by laughing at his support for Canada's team?
Who knows, I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.
The X post is now deleted, but the stench lingers on.

Meanwhile, this is the tweet about the Oilers that Carney sent out: Jerome Powell and Trump's decline

Democratic Wins Media BREAKING: In a stunning moment, Fed Chair Jerome Powell just came out swinging blaming Donald Trump for the slowing economy. Trump’s tariffs are slowing growth and causing increased prices. This is a must watch.

President Donald Trump claimed Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell was resisting his call to lower interest rates for personal reasons.

Trump decline: He tells the same story about Jerome "Too Late" Powell and mysterious money from tariffs twice in 5 minutes, forgetting that he told it the first time. (This was something that was in Jake Tapper's book.)

So Trump thinks he can just appoint himself head of the Fed, like he appointed himself to the Kennedy Centre?

We’re on the verge of war…he’s talking about the flag poles he put up, shit talking Jerome Powell, rambling incoherently about Biden…oh, now he wants to appoint himself fed chair. Fucking shit man, his brain is gone.

And now Trump thinks he might be "leading" the United States into war with Iran?

The people who start wars ALWAYS think it will be simple, in and out, we win. It never is.

Last night I thought war was imminent but tonight I think Trump is going to dither long enough for the iron to cool off:

Don’t worry — we’ll have an answer in “two weeks.”

BREAKING: The White House lashed out at the creators of this ad for "fear-mongering". It must have really struck a nerve. Maybe they don't like being outed as fascists. You know what to do: SPREAD THIS EVERYWHERE! #MAGAKidnappers

Lies, Damned Lies and Deportations
The truth about immigrants is catching up with Trump
...The point is that in general undocumented immigrants don’t take good jobs away from native-born Americans. By and large they take jobs the native-born don’t want or would only take at much higher wages. This means that immigrants are complements, not substitutes, for native workers. They increase, not reduce, native-born wages. And mass deportation, if it really gets going, will be an economic as well as a human catastrophe.
Which doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. TACO doesn’t necessarily mean that Trump chickens out from bad policies. Sometimes it means chickening out from good, or in any case less bad, policies. In this case he has chickened out in the face of MAGA hardliners, retreating from a policy change that would have limited the damage from anti-immigrant fanaticism.

Some American signs of #KneesUp
Maybe Americans are getting angry at last. I'm seeing some signs that ordinary Americans are starting to push back on the Trump administration's ICE fascism. If Canada is #ElbowsUp, then I guess we could describe American as #KneesUp:

At some point, however difficult or uncomfortable it may be, every American is going to have to pick a side. I'm glad the Dodgers picked the side of democracy.

New in PN: Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism “'I’ve never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable,' Judge Young fumed. 'I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this.' *More of this, please*"

I think the Governor is absolutely right.

Trump needs 2 weeks to figure out how he's going to wet his beak from this. AIPAC better be ready to go big or go home. Yesterday, the 2nd Circuit Appeals Court denied the Justice Department's effort to have the taxpayers pay the $83 million defamation judgment that Trump owes E. Jean Carroll.

I wonder how the Supreme Court is going to rule on this one
